Jermaine Reed
President and Chief Executive Officer

Jermaine L. Reed became President and Chief Executive Officer of Fresh Start Counseling Center, Inc. on February 12, 2003. Fresh Start Family Services is a subsidiary of Fresh Start Counseling Center. Fresh Start Family Services has experienced a rapid growth rate since its conception two years ago. As our mission and goals become more defined, our commitment to excellence in child welfare remains constant and unprecedented.

Prior to founding the agency, he provided exceptional parenting to treatment foster boys for several years. His approach is not just theoretical, but practical in working with troubled youth and agency staff.  Because Mr. Reed is willing to be in the trenches and work directly with young people from the public child-welfare, education and religious  systems to provide quality services in safe and stable families through foster care, mentoring and education he is well respected by troubled adolescent youth. Mr. Reed considers himself to not only be an advocate for foster youth, but for foster parents as well.  Many regard him a positive young African American male leader and role model. Prior to working in child welfare, Mr. Reed was also the former Director of Senior Centers for Interfaith Older Adult Programs in Milwaukee, WI. He was responsible for supervising five center directors who managed Milwaukee County Senior Centers that are connected with county’s department on aging.

He considers himself to be extremely blessed to be the proud father of his daughter Joy Amirah.  In his spare time he enjoys reading, traveling and public speaking.  His guiding principle is that everyone has the power to turn their misfortune into a fortune.
